We are excited to announce that we have added the Wingman for Dance program to our studio philosophy. Wingman is based on leadership principles, peer modelling and recognizing positive behaviours. The primary goal is to recognize individual children’s strengths while cultivating a cohesive and compassionate community. We are ultimately working towards making it every child’s responsibility to treat one another with kindness and respect. In doing so, all children become one another’s “Wingman”.
Wingman will be seamlessly incorporated into our current program and not detract from our content or objectives; rather it will bring our dancers closer together and bring the dance studio experience to a new level.
March Activities
Our studio will be celebrating Wingman Week from March 23-29. This week is when everything we’ve been discussing throughout the season truly comes together and launches us into the final stretch of the year.
Wingman Awards: Starting during Wingman Week and throughout April, we will be collecting nominations for Wingman awards, representing actions that go above and beyond for others. Everyone connected with the studio can make a nomination. The nomination forms we are using can be obtained at the front desk. We will consider these acts for awards that will be presented in May.
Community Service: As a studio community, we are invested in giving back and want to Go Above and Beyond for our community. Starting during Wingman Week, Company Robbins have organized a community service project to raise money for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. T-Shirts will be sold at the studio with proceeds going towards Princess Margaret ($20 for child sizes, $25 for adult sizes). #WeDanceForRebecca
How you can help: Discuss our plans with your dancer. Ask them if they can think of someone in the dance community who should be nominated for a Wingman Award and encourage them to submit a nomination. Ask how they feel about giving back to the community. Support Company Robbins’ fundraiser and purchase a t-shirt at the studio.
The Core Values of the Wingman program are very much in line with the principles we hold for our studio community. We are excited to be introducing this program and enhancing our studio community with it.
